Multi-Day Trips
West Virginia Backcountry Expedition
The first Western-style, horseback fishing trip on the East Coast in over 30 years!
We offer access to the most pristine backcountry waters on Shavers Fork of the Cheat River in West Virginia’s Monongahela National Forest (access limited to hike-in and horseback only). Our season starts in early spring when the fishing for big brookies, browns, and rainbows is hot, and runs through June when the dry fly fishing is at its peak. Our experienced guides will take care of you every step of the way. This includes getting you to the campsite, preparing 3 delicious meals a day, and guiding you to some of the best remote fishing West Virginia has to offer.
If you have “done it all” on the East Coast fishing scene, and want to get away from the crowds on your next fishing adventure, this is a trip you need to experience. We tailor these trips to all abilities (beginner to expert), with respect to both horseback riding and fishing, and will put together an itinerary that meets your needs. We want to make your trip with us everything you want it to be and more!

Beaver Creek Overnight Trip
Fish for trophy rainbows in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley!
Want to maximize your time on Cool Water Outfitters’ mile-long stretch of private, leased water on legendary Beaver Creek near Harrisonburg, VA? Stay overnight!
Beaver Creek is the healthiest spring creek in the state of Virginia, and is notoriously difficult to fish, given that there is only 1/2 mile of public access that is limited to 4 anglers per day, with permits issued in-person each morning. Cool Water Outfitters has exclusive rights to almost 1 mile of private access to Beaver Creek. You and your party will be the only anglers on that stretch of water.
You will have one evening of fishing to shake off the dust and get familiar with the water, eat a steak dinner around the campfire on the banks of the creek, and then spend the night in one of our outfitter tents, which feature cots and wood stoves. After coffee and breakfast the next morning, you have six hours of fishing to hunt for a trophy rainbow trout. This trip offers unparalleled value in the world of Virginia guided fly fishing.
